Childbirth Meditation | Aware

Christian meditation is a tradition of contemplative prayer. The following thoughts and verses are provided for use in your contemplative prayer practice.

Mark 8:17-18

Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: “Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened? Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don’t you remember?

Proverbs 20:5

The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters,
but one who has insight draws them out.

Galatians 6:3

If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves.

Pregnancy and early parenting is one of the times when many people have a heightened awareness. You may feel alert to changes in your body, sensitive to dangers in the local evironment, and concern for the way decisions will affect the future. Learning to be aware is good, if you close your eyes, you see nothing and are deceived. But if you focus on any thing too closely, you miss the larger context and can misinterpret the situation. Seek balance even with your awareness.
